Terms of use

The ground rules for playing, building and publishing on Difflocked, and what you can do with the material here. Last updated 19 September 2026.

Using the site

Difflocked is free to play and use for personal, non-commercial purposes. By using it you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may change these terms; the date at the top moves when we do.

Fair play

Race with the game as served. Do not modify the client, automate play, forge lap times or race sessions, or interfere with other players in multiplayer. Leaderboard entries and accounts that break this are removed. Difficulty levels below the standard one are unranked: their times are recorded but never shown on the leaderboards.

Accounts and conduct

One account per person; keep your password to yourself and tell us if it is compromised. Choose usernames, build names, notes and leaderboard names that are not abusive, impersonating or misleading; the site filters obvious offensive words and we remove what slips through. Do not attempt to overload the site or its APIs, scrape accounts, or access anything not offered to you.

Your builds

You keep the rights to vehicles you build in the Creator. By publishing a build (public or unlisted) you give Difflocked a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store it, show it on the site under your username, render it — including, where community renders are switched on and you ask for one, with an AI image model — and let other players race it and copy it into their own garage. Deleting a build ends the licence for that build, though copies other players have already taken of its specification stay with them. Unlisted builds are visible to anyone with the link.

AI renders

Pictures marked AI rendering impression are made by an image model from a build's or vehicle's specification and the site's own render. They are impressions, not photographs: proportions, fittings and settings can drift from the specification, and they should not be relied on as a record of anything. Community renders are a limited, quota-controlled feature that may be switched off at any time; a render already made stays on your build.

The vehicles

The vehicles in the game are original low-poly models and are given the game's own names. Difflocked is an independent enthusiast project with no affiliation to any vehicle manufacturer, and nothing here is endorsed by one. Manufacturers' names, badges and vehicle designs are trade marks of their owners and are not used in the game.

What you may copy

The game's code is open source under the licence in its repository. Screenshots and recordings of your own play are yours to share. The 3D models and their renders are © Difflocked; use them with a link back and not as part of a competing product. Other players' builds belong to their builders.

Availability and liability

The game is provided as is, free of charge, for fun. We do not promise it will always be available, that saved data will never be lost, or that leaderboards will be error-free. To the extent the law allows, Difflocked is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Takedown

If you own the rights to something reproduced here, or are named or pictured in a way you object to, use the contact form on 4x4s.org with the page address and what you would like changed. Copyright complaints should identify the work and your rights in it; we act promptly and tell the person who published the material.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, without affecting any consumer rights you have where you live.
