Civil Guard forward control

History

Special Linares FC2 forward-control vehicles of the Guardia Civil fitted with box bodies, armoured side doors and full-length bench seats so that crews could return fire on terrorist attacks while the vehicle was moving, used on road blocks and patrols in the Basque Country during the ETA campaign.

Garaje Siberia's history of the Guardia Civil's 4×4s records that, alongside the ordinary Linares fleet, the force took a number of Linares FC2 forward controls specially fitted for the anti-terrorist campaign of the 1970s and 1980s: a box body behind the cab with an armoured side door pierced by vision ports, and full-length bench seats along the walls so that a squad could sit facing outward, weapons ready, and return fire on the move if the vehicle was attacked. The photograph shows one at a road block on the Basque coast beside a BMR armoured car. Numbers built are not recorded. The registry's model is a dark green Linares FC2 forward control with the box body, armoured side door with ports and roof ventilator; in the game it is bullet-proof and fires from its crew compartment.
