Monviso VM90 Torpedo

History

The Italian VM90 Torpedo light tactical troop carrier, with a short sloping bonnet, split windscreen and canvas-covered personnel body.

This olive left-hand-drive model follows the Army VM90-T0/T1 usage and maintenance manual (April 1995), pages 19–21 and 31. Its cab sits above the front axle and its troop tilt is 2,229 mm high. The 2,800 mm wheelbase is retained; the previous long bonnet, rearward cab and tall canvas made the axle spacing look short. The manual specifies a 3,250 kg vehicle in running order including the 110 kg driver allowance and spare wheel, a 1,200 kg payload and 4,450 kg fully laden mass. Its 2,499 cc 8142.27 diesel produces 76 kW at 3,800 rpm and 235 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The fifth-gear table gives 102.44 km/h at 3,800 rpm; the game uses 102. These supersede provisional mass/torque estimates. The earlier archived Army web summary reports different overall dimensions/output; this implementation now follows the more detailed T0/T1 manual rather than combining them. The existing operator list is retained as family-level evidence. Italy/Brunei Torpedo photographs are identifiable; the Malta photo depicts a shelter. Grip .V-Shorty, drag 2.9, steering .95 and acceleration .95 are gameplay trims. No weapon, armour or smoke launcher is fitted.
