The record

Twelve national teams contested the 1988 Camel Trophy in Sulawesi using turbo-diesel One Tens. The route tested vehicles as well as crews: the British vehicle suffered cracked differential housings and the Belgian vehicle a broken transfer box.

This reconstruction follows the surviving Italian vehicle photographed in Land Rover Club Italia's 2023 magazine, whose caption identifies its original equipment and combined internal/external roll cage. Its bonnet spare, front windscreen hoop, four roof lamps, pillar spotlights, raised intake and perforated recovery boards distinguish it from the earlier Ninety configurations. The documented event inventory supports the rear spare and four flat roof cans; details hidden in the photographs are approximate. No unreadable registration has been invented. The Italian operator is supported by Land Rover's 2025 exhibition announcement; the exact preparation origin remains unassigned.

AI rendering impression

An AI rendering impression starts from the registry's own 3D model of this vehicle, which an image model then paints into a scene. It is an artist's impression of the type, made to give a feel for the vehicle in its element — not a photograph, and not a record of any particular vehicle.

Proportions, fittings, markings, colours and the setting can all drift from the original in the process. For the vehicle's actual details, rely on the registry's 3D renders, the specification and the cited sources on this page.
