Encounter Overland — 2191 NX

The company archive identifies 2191 NX as the vehicle driven by Harry Marsh and Tony Jones on their founding journey. Three original colour photographs establish a Series I station wagon, with flat front wings, the early five-door body and rounded rear quarter glazing. It is represented on the Series I 107-inch station-wagon chassis; the queue’s provisional Series II/IIA 109 identification was not supported by the photographs. Pale Cambridge-blue lower panels contrast with Oxford-blue window surrounds and a pale roof. A bonnet spare, paired bumper cans, two low auxiliary lamps and a heavily laden pale roof rack are visible. The rear photograph establishes the square rear plate and GB marking. The diary records the eight-person journey, repairs at Calcutta and sale in Dacca in April 1965. Exact manufacture year, colour codes and contents under the tarpaulin are unknown; covered luggage shapes approximate the photographed load.
