This short-wheelbase Land Rover was one of two red expedition vehicles used for Wheels Across a Wilderness. Allison’s expedition account identifies 9.00×16 aero sand tyres, army-style guards, front jerrycan bar and a toolbox on the tailgate.
The period photograph reproduced by Carsales establishes a pale windowed roof, bonnet and cab-roof spares, angular front wheel openings and the WEST–EAST CROSSING–EXPEDITION side lettering. The model follows that travelling configuration with shared Series IIA bodywork, oversized tyres and shared cans and bonnet spare. The exact aero tyre tread and rear toolbox details are not visible clearly; their shapes are conservative representations of the documented equipment. Registration is unconfirmed and no invented plate is fitted.
The expedition also used a four-wheel trailer. Which vehicle towed it varied: the supplied queue brief associates it with this 88, while the period photograph shows it behind the long-wheelbase wagon. No trailer is permanently attached to this vehicle model. The queue’s existing UK origin is preserved, but the exact assembly/conversion location is not independently established; Australian operation is supported by the expedition account.
