The record
By the late 1950s the Royal Automobile Club was running long-wheelbase Land Rovers alongside its 80- and 88-inch patrol vehicles. The 109-inch truck cab with a canvas tilt gave a patrolman room for towing bars, a jack, fuel and tools, with space under the tilt for a broken-down car's passengers and luggage on the way to a garage — the kind of job the Club's later Relay-style services would formalise. They wore the RAC's dark blue with white ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB lettering along the rear body and the diamond badge on the doors and wings.
Oxford Diecast's 1:43 model LAN1109004 and its 1:76 counterpart 76LAN1109004 are the references: RAC blue with blue steel wheels, black canvas tilt over the rear body, the RAC diamond on the doors and both wing fronts, ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB on the tub sides and a small roof sign on the cab front. The plate is not legible on the model and is left blank; the registry model reproduces the vehicle in the Breakdown group. The size of the RAC's 109 fleet is not given in the sources.
