History

Maryport Inshore Rescue is an independent lifeboat service on the Solway coast of Cumbria, founded in 1975 and run by volunteers without Lifeboats funding. Its boats cover the Solway's fast tides and mudflats and its crews also turn out for mud, cliff and flood rescues along the shore, so the station has always needed road vehicles that can launch and recover the boat from rough slipways and get a crew across the sands. Corrected at review: the door crest is the Maryport Rescue badge — a rope-edged ring, yellow field quartered by a red cross with lifeboat, anchor, lighthouse and ship, and a MARYPORT RESCUE banner.
