History

FFR — Fitted For Radio — is the British Army's designation for a vehicle wired to carry a signals installation: a 24-volt system with a second alternator to keep the batteries up while the radios run, separate from the vehicle's own electrics. It was cast from service and registered for civilian life in February 2020 with 48,000 miles, and sold on without its Bowman sets — the radios go back to the army, the wiring does not. The Jackal order of January 1996 ran to some 8,000 vehicles, of which the FFR 110s were a substantial part; a separate FFR figure is not published.
