The 2015 Royal Geographical Society Land Rover Bursary supported six volcanologists studying emissions from volcanoes in Peru and Chile. Land Rover adapted their Defender as a mobile observatory with scientific instruments and additional electrical storage. The team’s Villarrica field diary documents its white station-wagon body, dark wheels and wheel arches, full rear side glazing, winch, two small roof lamps, side awning and heavily loaded roof rack.
The model follows the loaded photograph: fluorescent strips below the side windows, website lettering on the front wing, OVI/INGEMMET marking near the front-door hinge, Land Rover and Royal Geographical Society marks on the front door, the Trail by Fire / Ruta del Fuego volcano emblem on the rear passenger door, and AboveAndBeyond on the rear quarter. Small logo artwork is simplified while preserving its panel placement. The earlier red snow-covered representation was based on a Pole of Cold photograph and has been reassigned to that separate vehicle.
