Description
The standard Land Rover front recovery winch: a worm-driven vertical bollard on the front bumper, driven straight off the crankshaft nose through a dog clutch and short shaft, with the manila rope wound twice round the bollard and hauled by hand. Rated 2,500 lb line pull with a shear pin at 600 engine rpm, later 3,000 lb; also made in tall-bollard form for GPO/BT cable pulling.
Separate drive-line parts for 1.6/2.0 and 2¼ engines; 4-cylinder only
Rarity. About 15,000 AEH.V and AEH.D units built 1950-1971 plus later GLR101 production; complete reconditioned setups sell at €2,768-5,999 (lr-winches) and lroe lists reconditioned assemblies, so examples are findable but pre-1956 units are scarce.
Record: 5 sources; designation recorded; price recorded.
