Description
A second aluminium roof skin of the same gauge as the roof, carried on spacers above four large roof vents so that air drawn through the gap in motion ventilates and insulates the cab in hot climates, extending over the windscreen and rear as sun visors. Standard on the Series station wagon package with its alpine windows and optional on other bodies; called the tropical, sunsheet or safari roof.
Series I station wagons from 1949; Series II-III station wagons standard; Defender county station wagons continued it.
Rarity. Standard on Series station wagons and an option on hardtops from the Series I onward, so fitted to tens of thousands; still reproduced.
Record: 3 sources; price recorded; production dates not established.
