Description
The weapons fit of the Australian SASR Long Range Patrol Vehicle and the 2nd Commando Regiment Surveillance Reconnaissance Vehicle: a W&E Platt open ring mount on a tubular roll-over structure over the cargo bay carrying a .50 M2HB-QCB or Mk 19 40 mm grenade launcher on a Platt softmount, and a swing/pedestal mount for a MAG 58 in front of the left-hand passenger seat. Platt's .50 softmount for the Perentie recce vehicles, developed at SASR request around 1988, was the company's first defence product; the FW700 open ring entered service 1997-98.

Rarity. Fitted to only 27 Perentie 6x6 LRPVs and 55 Project Bushranger 4x4 SRVs in Australian service; the LRPVs and SRVs were retained or museum-donated rather than sold, though W&E Platt has made over 20,000 mounts for other vehicles since.
