A family of one-axle, two-wheeled 1-ton trailers on a common Sankey chassis with off-road suspension, hydraulic over-run brakes and a mechanical handbrake, built out as cargo, plant, Rapier missile resupply, generator platform and air-portable bridge carriers. The FV2420 carries Class 16 air-portable bridge sections on a lowering suspension; the FV2411/2412 Rapier trailers were towed by the 101 Forward Control and 109 FFR Detachment Support Vehicle.

Description

A family of one-axle, two-wheeled 1-ton trailers on a common Sankey chassis with off-road suspension, hydraulic over-run brakes and a mechanical handbrake, built out as cargo, plant, Rapier missile resupply, generator platform and air-portable bridge carriers. The FV2420 carries Class 16 air-portable bridge sections on a lowering suspension; the FV2411/2412 Rapier trailers were towed by the 101 Forward Control and 109 FFR Detachment Support Vehicle.

The 101 FC Rapier Firing Unit Tractor towed the launcher; the 109 FFR DSV towed the 1-ton Missile Supply Trailer with up to ten missiles.

Rarity. Built in role-specific batches for the 1-ton Forward Control, 101 FC and Rapier fire units; bare FV2420 frames sell for around £500 (Defender2 2019) and Rapier trailers appear at MoD auctions. Numbers not published.
